The 18th annual meeting for the Society for Free Radical Research Europe (SFRR-E)

SFRR-E 2019 annual meeting will be held in an enchanting historical venue, Teatro Nuovo, located on the most famous square of Ferrara, Piazza Trento Trieste. The piazza is the beating heart of the city and dates back to the Middle Ages and hosts the new cathedral dedicated to St. George. Ferrara became an intellectual and artistic center that attracted greatest minds and artists, including Piero della Francesca, Jacopo Bellini and Andrea Mantegna, of the Italian Renaissance period during the 15th and 16th centuries. Because of these outstanding artistic features, UNESCO included Ferrara among the 53 Italian sites in the World Heritage List.

This meeting represents a unique opportunity for advancing scientific interactions between academics, researchers and clinicians in the area of Redox Biology, in health and diseases, and how the modulation of those processes impacts human health.

The meeting will start on Wednesday, June 19 and will end on Friday, June 21. The Scientific program will include thematic symposia, plenary lectures and selected oral presentations, poster sessions and sponsor exhibitions.

The symposia have been selected based on the proposals submitted to the SFRR-E Scientific Committee. Orals presentation selected from the abstracts will be also part of the program. The congress will also have 5 plenary and keynote lectures selected from award lecture proposals submitted to the SFRR-E Scientific Committee.


SFRE-E, as autonomous regional group of SFRR International (over 2500 members worldwide) was founded in 1988

The Society promotes interest in all aspects of research into the reactions and properties of free radicals and into their physical, chemical, biological, medical and industrial roles. An important role for this international Society is its capacity to lead to improvements in health and medical care in all parts of the world and to industrial and agricultural processes in many fields.

SFRR-E, is one the five regional groups (the other are: SFRR Asia, SFRR Australasia, Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine (SFRR Americas) and SFRR Africa) of SFRR International and counts sevarl hundreds members in Europe.


Free radicals and related reactive byproducts and intermediates are implicated in a wide range of industrial, medical and biological process of commercial relevance. These encompass environmental chemistry, human and animal health, development of novel drugs, therapies and nutritional supplements, and the treatment of several human diseases. SFRR-E welcomes dialogue with industrial and commercial concerns and is always keen to hear potential mutually beneficial chances do fruitful collaborations

All the events will occur at ground floor of the palace. Sponsor exhibition stands will be located in the elegant hall of the palace, just in front of the main entrance. Sponsor sessions will take place in the adjacent 330 square meters indoor garden. Lunch will be served in the large outdoor garden located in the back of the palace

The physical vicinity of these three locations will give all exhibitors the opportunity to interact with all participants all day thus maximizing the networking opportunities
